Food Security
By On Travel
It's "Security Week" on Qondio. Then, everybody is writing about how to ensure security on the international scene and at home. Fight against terrorism, safety at home and also security of your computer are dealt with abundantly. Yet, security is also food and energy security. Both are threatened in many parts of the planet. Climate change brings along desertification and less farmable soils. Our current agricultural practices tend to worsen the problem. How to ensure food security, which means basically to prevent people from starving and if possible to offer everyone a balanced diet? The growing need for food (see: world population is growing, especially in developping countries)is one of the main argument raised in favor of socalled agro-techs and GMO. Yet it is much debated. A recent report from the UNEP gives interesting insights on this issue. |
Do we need GMO to feed the world population?

Very insightful, thank you for this post!
One has to wonder why the American government pays farmers not to grow crops, when there are so many people starving around the world. Thank you for sharing. Best to you. Frederick
One has to wonder when the world population growth problem will get controlled too. We will soon be literally eating ourselves out of house and home on a global scale pretty soon.
